Photo Circle
Group photo exhibition of members of the Photography Circle
The home, the family, the everyday and intimate space have always been treated as protected areas away from third glances. Beloved places, but which were of no other interest than as a context for life. Almost no photographer dealt with them and whenever these places were photographed, it was for capturing family portraits. But then they appeared with the cold perfection of a photographic studio, dominated by the carefully arranged pose of the family members in a rigid posture against a background of an uncluttered living room.
I think this particular subject wins when it is presented through the multifaceted prism of a group exhibition, and indeed of photographers who share many common understandings of the artistic use of the medium. The interest lies in the personal stamp that emerges through the way of transforming the insignificant into the important with the photographic approach.
Laundry in art has been used very often with the obvious symbolism that accompanies it through the order and cleanliness it expresses.
